On June 2nd, 2013 we had the pleasure of taking Dorothy Custer on a Tandem Base Jump. Her grandson, Greg Custer, called instructor and owner Sean Chuma to ask what he did. Chuma told him, “We jump off the Perrine Bridge with passengers attached on the front, it’s called a Tandem Base Jump. It is a way for a person with no parachute experience to catch a glimpse into the world of BASE jumping.” Greg asked if Chuma would be willing to take his 102 year old grandmother on a jump. Chuma expressed that he would need to meet her in person to asses if she was fit for the jump. The next day Chuma went to visit Dorothy and decided that it was risky but if she wanted to do it, he thought it could be done. Three days later the jump was history and a world record was made for the oldest person to ever do a BASE Jump. Congrats to Dorothy Custer for her bravery and willingness to live life to the fullest.
